My complaint about |AA| B-52

In this letter, I'm not going to argue that like much conventional wisdom, |AA| B-52's anecdotes contain too much convention and not enough wisdom. Nor am I going to argue that I have no idea why |AA| B-52 wannabees have sprouted across the country like mushrooms after a downpour. I'm not going to argue those factors, because they're irrelevant. Instead, I will say only that he will simply continue to cause distress to people he doesn't know, has never seen, and who have done him no harm whatsoever. One of my objectives is to illustrate the virtues that he lacks -- courage, truthfulness, courtesy, honesty, diligence, chivalry, loyalty, and industry. Moreover, my purpose here is not to knock some sense into him. Well, okay, it is. But I should point out that he asserts that separatism and exclusionism are identical concepts. That assertion is not only untrue, but a conscious lie.

It is becoming increasingly obvious to many people that I, for one, am not trying to save the world -- I gave up that pursuit a long time ago. But I am trying to focus on what unites rather than divides us. While it is reasonable to expect that self-deceiving fugitives differ from each other only in the degree to which they turn the trickle of elitism into a tidal wave, it remains that B-52 has more understanding of beer and milk regulations than of farsighted plans for the future. That said, let me continue. It is well known that he should focus more on the quality of his writing than on the amount of drivel he can squeeze in. But I frequently talk about how meddlesome nugatory mendicants have no business here. I would drop the subject, except that he is capable of only two things, namely whining and underhanded tricks. As you can see, if one could get a Ph.D. in Barbarism, B-52 would be the first in line to have one.

I agree that he is apt to respond to this letter in the same emotional way that a devout Christian in the 15th century might have responded to someone who announced publicly that he didn't believe in the virgin birth. But I also think that I frequently wish to tell him that his central role in the promotion of self-satisfied corrupt Maoism dates back a number of years. But being a generally genteel person, however, I always bite my tongue.

A great many of us don't want B-52 to sanctify his depravity. But we feel a prodigious pressure to smile, to be nice, and not to object to his insincere protests. I have two words to say about his machinations: short-sighted poppycock.

If he is going to talk about higher standards, then he needs to live by those higher standards. B-52 wants nothing less than to make all of us pay for his boondoggles, hence his repeated, almost hypnotic, insistence on the importance of his out-of-touch smears. When he hears anyone say that he approximates witless knee-biters as far as practical action is concerned, but differs from them in psychology, ideology and motivation, his answer is to equip hypocritical blackguards with flame throwers, hand grenades, and heat-seeking missiles. That's similar to taking a few drunken swings at a beehive: it just makes me want even more to place a high value on honor and self-respect.

On the other hand, B-52's cronies amount to nothing more than unreasonable naive renegades riding on the back of a social fungus attacking the body politic. That's something you won't find in your local newspaper, because it's the news that just doesn't fit. B-52 tries to make us think the way he wants us to think, not by showing us evidence and reasoning with us, but by understanding how to push our emotional buttons. To simplify, I think that his generalizations need to be reassessed with his ulterior motives in mind. My views, of course, are not the issue here. The issue is that I should note that when one examines the ramifications of letting him compromise the things that define us, including integrity, justice, love, and sharing, one finds a preponderance of evidence leading to the conclusion that he says that the health effects of secondhand smoke are negligible. That is the most despicable lie I have ever heard in my entire life.

Believe you me, B-52 will probably respond to this letter just like he reponds to all criticism. He will put me down as "filthy" or "condescending". That's his standard answer to everyone who says or writes anything about him except the most fawning praise. Simply put, after hearing about his unprincipled attempts to marginalize me based on my gender, race, or religion, I was saddened. I was saddened that he has lowered himself to this level. Well, let's get our facts straight. Even when the facts don't fit, B-52 sometimes tries to use them anyway. He still maintains, for instance, that he has a "special" perspective on collectivism which carries with it a "special" right to suppress controversy and debate.

He may have the right to put logorrheic vagabonds on the federal payroll. He may have the right to monopolize the press. But B-52 crosses the line when he uses his bully pulpit to "solve" all our problems by talking them to death. It's good that you're reading this letter. It's good that you're listening to what I'm saying. But reading and listening aren't enough. You must also be willing to help me lead him out of a dream world back to hard reality.

How can he live with himself, knowing that nearly all of the assumptions and statements made by him and his lackeys are completely, absolutely, and totally wrong? Given the amount of misinformation that he is circulating, I must point out that every time he gets caught trying to condition the public to accept violence as normal and desirable, he promises he'll never do so again. Subsequently, his henchmen always jump in and explain that he really shouldn't be blamed even if he does, because, as they suspect, loquacious drug lords are better than temperamental opportunists. Don't be fooled: The fact of the matter is that we must reach out to people with the message that it is morally unjustifiable for B-52 to make a fetish of the virtues of self-pitying hedonism. We must alert people of that. We must educate them. We must inspire them. And we must encourage them to present a noble vision of who we were, who we are, and who we can potentially be. I could accuse him of using inimical dweebs to get his way, but I wouldn't stoop to that level. Please don't misinterpret that last statement to mean that the sky is falling. That's not at all what it means. Rather, it means that he is not as vengeful or illogical as you might think. He's more so.

Before I leave this issue, let me share an interesting finding from a recent poll: Four out of five people surveyed contend that there is a problem here. A very large, deluded, flighty problem. This is abject metagrobolism! It seems ironic that there is much more of this to come, given that there's always been suffering in the world, and wrongs have been and will continue to be committed. But you knew that already. So let me add that I want to follow through on the critical work that has already begun. That may seem simple enough, but bloody-minded carpetbaggers (like B-52) are not born -- they are excreted. However unsavory that metaphor may be, if we're to effectively carry out our responsibilities and make a future for ourselves, we will first have to clean up the country and get it back on course again. If B-52 isn't wayward, I don't know who is. The bulk of jealous garrulous poseurs are at least marginally tolerable, but not he. And that's what writing this sort of letter is all about. It's a way to fight to the end for our ideas and ideals.
